9TH EUROGRAPHICS WORKSHOP on ANIMATION and SIMULATION -- Call for Contributions -- August 31st - September 1st, 1998 Lisbon, Portugal ** final approval pending ** AIMS AND SCOPE: The Eurographics Workshop on Animation and Simulation is an international forum of high quality where researchers representing the animation and simulation communities come together to exchange knowledge and experience related to the general themes of modeling, animation, motion control, motion capture, simulation, and visualization of dynamic scenes. The main topics of interest include: - motion control - temporal coherence - animator interfaces - graphical simulation - behavioral animation - physically based modeling - flight and driving simulators - real time animation/simulation - animation languages and systems - software and hardware for animation - motion blur and temporal antialiasing - motion capture analysis for animation - simulation of dynamic natural phenomena - character animation, human animation, synthetic actors - cooperation between motion analysis and motion synthesis Moreover, this year's workshop proposes to the authors to comment on the following theme of interest in their contribution : " Virtual Reality versus Animation and Simulation: from real time animation/simulation to physical perception of virtual environments " A theme that ties together the problem of interactive animation and simulation and the virtual reality concepts. CONTRIBUTIONS: Authors are invited to send seven copies of the full paper (max 12 pages) to the workshop secretariat (see below for relevant deadlines). Papers submitted after the deadline will be considered, but will be given lower priority for inclusion in the programme. SCHEDULE: May 11 : deadline for full paper June 16 : notification of acceptance for the workshop July 1 : deadline for camera ready papers August 31 - September 1 : workshop LOCATION AND ORGANIZATION: The workshop, an activity of the Eurographics Working Group on Animation and Simulation, will be held at Lisbon (Portugal) before the annual Eurographics Conference. The local organizer is Mario Rui Gomes (mrg@inesc.pt). Non-presenters are welcome, but the workshop is limited to about 60 participants. Extended discussions will be planned after each session. Full versions of all papers will be submitted for publication of a book to EUROGRAPHICS Series Editors. The workshop proceedings will appear at least as a Eurographics Technical Report distributed to the participants. The attendance fees will be about 215 SF for EG members and 360 SF for non-EG members. The fees will cover the cost of the meeting facilities, as well as two lunches and a copy of the proceedings for each participant. Accomodation is not incuded.
